Could This Be The Beginning Of Something

Updated: Feb 14, 2021

Well

I have a lot to say regarding this topic, and I am sure I am not the only one. This is my second article I read this evening on the subject of possible depositions by Guantanamo detainees regarding 911, in return for their freedom. The articles reached deep, to what I believe is needed for the world to move on from this Act of World War. I call it not just an Act of War but an Act of World War because no matter whose, turf, territory or soil the World Trade Towers stood on, there is not a country around this globe that was not affected in a negative fashion. The articles also describe it as an Act of Terror. Terror was what it was. "I remember where I was when the world stop turning that September Day."-. Alan Jackson. As all wars do, not only did it divide us, but it also brought us closer together. There is over a billion dollars in damages sought from Saudi Arabia specifically. The topic of money of course made the heckles on the back of my neck rise. Not the claims already filed, but the thought of whether or not the countries of all the detainees that were held in Gitmo would be contributing. How could money matter. I do not think that any of the thousands of victims, tens of thousands of victims, have been waiting for a "pay check" or a “pay out". As I started to bubble and boil in my mind, righteous and self centered, I checked myself. There will be University tuition to pay, Seniors Care. So many people had to go on alone, shouldering financial burdens that many were I’ll equipped to handle. Add this on top of the Husband’s, Wives, brothers and sisters lost. The emotional pain will never, I am sure, go away. For the detainees to even consider testifying, they are asking to be exempted from the death penalty. I found this intriguing, "Saudi Arabia long had broad immunity from September 11 lawsuits in the US. But that changed in September 2016 when the US Congress overrode President Barack Obama's veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act ("JASTA")." I found the fact that he had enacted that legislation disheartening. Nevertheless Obhama did just that, enacted it. "Dropping the death penalty would serve as an official censure of the government's torture of the detainees." Another interesting quote. No death penalty for disclosure, and they could be repatriated. I agree. A much more conservative person might think I am a fool. McCain would possibly snort at this, if he were still alive to witness this. I would choose to disagree. I have a cousin who is still alive today, he could not be. His company had offices in the Two Towers. He was in that office on a regular basis and happened to not be that day. Enough lives have been lost. Enough ideas of what home was and is, has been destroyed by the events that occurred on that September morning. Closure is mentioned in the other article that I will also link at the bottom of my piece. "One of the main things that the 9/11 defendants have to offer is closure, particularly closure for the victims," according to the person whom the Journal did not identify. "With capital charges gone, there is an opportunity to tell the story of 9/11 once and for all."" Closure. Such a small word, really it does not take up much space amongst these paragraphs. Closure. A word, that, for I would imagine, so many people, could bring the ability to fully live again back to them. A word that is boundless, without perimeters, immeasurable. I sat in a Dialectic Behavior Therapy class, three hours a week, every Wednesday from 6 PM to 9 PM for 10 weeks in my 27th year of life. I will never forget. I do not know where she sat at every class but I know where she was sitting the day she shared with the group that she had lost her husband, and her two sons, her entire immediate family in one of the planes on September 11, 2001. We were sitting in a rectangle. The tables were two deep between us and there was possibly as many as 14 of us in the group. My back was to the door of the room and I could see the Alder trees swaying in the breeze and the grey sky behind them. She was sitting directly across from me and slightly to my right. Closure. Boundless, without perimeters, immeasurable. Not only is it the 25,000 people filing for financial compensation, it is the ones that don’t even know that their lives were effected on that day. If those men could please do what they can, not in the name of their God, or any God for that matter, but for the 100,000's of faceless and nameless peoples lives that the events of September 11, 2001 changed for ever, some not ever even knowing the truth, well I can only speak for myself, but I believe this act would honor our world. I understand it is not necessary for me to share everything I felt, thought, or muttered to self as I read these two articles, but I want to leave you with this. It is in regards to the statement in the above paragraph, “some not even knowing the truth”. There is a woman today going through her daily life routine, maybe in her mid 30's, possibly a little older. About 10 years ago she realized that something was missing. She has lived a dedicated life, maybe it has not been exactly what she thought it was going to be, maybe it was not exactly what she had in mind, maybe she never even thought of it, regardless she does her days. She does these days alone. She has been busy. Time has gone by. In another 10 years she will be 45 or maybe 50; more time will have gone by. She will notice the next ten years, but she was busy. She is alone. No husband, no children. She looked for him over the years especially in her early thirties, but eventually she just got busy again. Over the years like a pea under a stack of mattress', something has not felt quite right. Sometimes she imagines a child on her hip, feels the sand beneath her toes and can see "his silhouette" walking towards her. If you have not connected the dots yet, she has not met him and never will, you see he was on that plane. Just one more soul that was lost amongst the carnage of that chilling day. He was only 10 or 15 or maybe 25. As I said The Falling of The World Trade Center tore people apart and brought people together. We are one world now, whether we like each other or not. One thing we do have in common is we are all someone’s child, and not one of us would not be missed. https://www.aljazeera.com/…/accused-911-mastermind-open-tes… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2NXDJ4FabE

 THE ARTIFACT MANIFAST:
MY Blogger MANIFEST:

This page is about solutions.  If I diverge from this path, please advise me.

Here I would like to honor past by rembering it.  Polotics, social development, life as we remember.

I also want to acknowledge the present and how extremely lucky, we as a species are to have this moment, just this one right now.

Then I want to take the thought and ideas that accumulate from running this process and share my conclusions with you.

It is important that I stay solution based, for I am one of those people that believe, in solutions.  In the greater opportunities and the chances we have been given, have and are going to be living in tomorrow.  Sometimes I wander but in the end I always come back to center, to genuine self.  That is where I believe the solution begins and ends, with us.

The solution begins within us, with in our own person, home, community. The solution begins with me.  Here is to us.
